New to the forums, stop me if I talk too much, I could talk the ears off a statue to be honest

Hi, My name is Lauren and I run LL care and support. We focus mainly on allied health assistant roles, community access, skills development and hydrotherapy. I started as a sole trader, but quickly grew. And this year I transitioned to company and hired some like minded support workers. We all have similar views on how we like to work with people. We also each have different skills and we all learn from each other.

With all the changes in legislation coming, I thought it would be good to seek more resources of information. While I have worked in the industry for a long time I am new to being a business owner. My teachers always used to say “You don’t know what you don’t know, but you should know where to go to find out”.

So now I seek out communities with equally curious minds and this place seemed like a good one to add to the list.

Haha, hey Lauren. We love chatter boxes. Thats the whole point of a forum. To chat about stuff. So chat away

Welcome to the community! It’s an absolute pleasure to have someone like yourself with a sense of humour join the community here. Sounds like you’ve built a really great team at LL Care and Support. Congrats on the growth, you must be doing something consistently right

I love this. Very relevant to me personally at the moment actually with regards to implementing some new features here (which I logistically had no idea how to do until I found the answers haha).

I always liked Seneca’s quote: “While we teach, we learn.”

Teaching others helps reinforce and deepen our own understanding of the subject.

I’m sure you’ve picked up some valuable insights that could really benefit NDIS participants and their support networks. If you feel up to it at some point in the future Lauren, how about sharing some of your knowledge in our “Helpful Articles” section?

Maybe tips on how to get the most out of allied health services, or advice on community access and skills development. Your expertise could really make a difference for participants and their support networks here… most importantly, it’ll allow them to get to know you a little better/develop trust/relationship building.

I suggest it to all providers upon sign-up as it’s one of the most effective ways to use this platform to help your business and participants at the same time.

A chatter box like you would crush it

Let me know if you ever need assistance with anything.

Hey Lauren,

Welcome aboard! Love the thread title :joy:. Anyone who can talk the ears off a statue is gonna fit in just fine here. Looking forward to hearing what you’ve got to say!

Catch you around!

I’m not sure I would know where to begin (or end for that matter) :joy:

I have definitely come across a lot, from underfunded plans to trying to maintain stability in with revolving door allied health agencies.

There is quite a bit right and wrong about the current NDIS, and not a whole lot of clear information on how to navigate it. Especially because it is deliberately kept vague to try and encompass every need and service that may be required.

I will have to give it some thought before I take everyone on a rambling adventure about service agreement negotiations and the growing number of support workers with transferable skills from “past lives” that increase the benefits they can provide participants. I am very curious about peoples thoughts on how they feel the new legislation will impact their supports directly. I know it will impact businesses in quite a few ways. Adapting is always interesting.

Thank you! I always feel I should warn people before they strike up a conversation with me. Just in case they have a prior engagement they need to consider.
