I think we may need to start a craft corner where crafty people can trade ideas and display their awesomeness

We have had a busy few days due to storms, including some participants needing extra help and a cat scratching my face during a rescue. SO, today I am having a day off. This is me in bear hat mode because it’s cold.

I am also working on one of the craft mediums that I enjoy, 3d printing. We own different types of 3d printers for different tasks.

Both my partner and I love this hobby because we are able to print some really useful things like trolley unlocking keys, or we can go completely off with the call of creativity.

This is him by the way. With a traditional bathroom selfie.

His fascination with printing large swords and having ADHD are also reasons why breakables in my house live in my office.

Back to the point of the post. I am curious about all of the creativity people here engage in. I want to know what crafts you are into, reasons why, show off some amazing things.

I’m not much of a crafter myself Lauren, but I’ve got to say, I really admire the dedication and creativity you and your partner put into your projects! It’s incredible what can be made with 3D printing these days. I’d never have imagined armor and swords like those! Even though crafting isn’t my thing, I love seeing what others are passionate about. It’s clear that your creativity brings a lot of joy into your life, and that’s something we all need, especially during hectic times. I’m sure your clients would get joy from your crafting too. Looking forward to hearing about everyone’s projects and maybe picking up a few ideas for myself!

It has definitely come in handy in my work. From using crafts to asses motor skills and help capacity build to holding events, it can really make things click well.

Creativity is also so open to interpretation. I have one client in particular who is the most creative little chef and it all started with them asking how to make a pizza.

It’s amazing how something like crafting or cooking can be so much more than just a hobby, it can be a real tool for growth and learning.

It makes me think that even though I’m not particularly crafty, there might be other ways to use activities and fun to help my little one.

It’s unexpected that a thread on craft would actually turn out to be such a great way to develop children’s skills and creativity at the same time. You’ve got a way of turning everyday fun things into something that makes a real difference.

It can definitely build skills. With younger littles, treasure hunt sand pits, paint packets and water play can all help improve hand eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills and problem solving while being fun. Don’t leave sand outside if there are cats about though. They may add to the treasures to find.

This is a great thread. Love it.

Totally agree. I’m a bit of a numpty when it comes to thinking of all the skills an activity can bring. Its a good filter to use to add a splice of learning and development with the fun.

My wife is good at all these things. I’m still learning. I can use Lauren ideas to impress my wife though. You’re my new secret weapon haha.

Let me know next time she is up to something and I will send you some ideas you can bandy about :joy:

I love 3d printing. I have a famiy friend who has a 3d printing business. The stuff he can do is amazing. He helped me create a fairy house for my niece which looked like it was purchased from the shops. He has also created parts for things which have gone missing. I’m keen to get my own printer soon. The stuff you can do is amazing. Its literally manufacturing at your fingertips.

What 3d printers do you own if you don’t mind me asking?

2 K1 series creality high speed printers, we have an older larger slower model as well but we no longer really run it. We have a CR 30 print mill conveyer belt printer and we have an ender 5 pro.

I think we are sticking with creality for all future buys though.

Good to know. I’ll have a look around. Is there a special 3d printing site you get your printers from or do you just buy them from the individual sites of the company?

We typically wait for creality directly to have sales but you have to be quick because they get snapped up fast. Center com sometimes has them randomly for cheap but we got the ender from there and it wasnt quite right and they didnt do tech support well.

Hey Lauren, can we pwease have a creativity corner instead where any kind of display of creativity can be posted?

Absolutely, although I won’t subject any of you to my godawful poetry attempts from my agnsty mid 20s hahaha. Don’t want to get banned for cruel and unusual punishment.

Today we are waiting for a new resin 3d printer to arrive and try out. In the mean time we played with some colour change filament to make a rose dragon.

Resin printer has been interesting.

Resin printing working out to be pretty good. Messed up a little but nothing I can’t learn from.

Who designed her! Your husband

She’s like some fitness model Tomb raider looking chic.

Is it just me or can you see some abs there?

Haha shes a character from final fantasy. Tifa Lockhart.

We are noth gamer and anime millennials :joy: and yes those are some awesome abs

I’m into old school games like Abe’s Oddysee and Rise of Nations.

I used to play all the abes oddysee games back to back at least once a year, but haven’t for the last few years.

I don’t really deviate because I know I don’t have the time for it.
